Ron at the Kali Temple

Visiting the beautiful Kali Temple in Dakshineswar on the outskirts of Kolkata on the last day of Navratri (festival honoring Divine Mother) we felt a special connection with Yoganandaji. It was here that he would often come as a youth, still in high school, to meditate in the grove of trees where his spiritual hero, Sri Ramakrishna, experienced his enlightenment. We were treated to a private tour by one of the temple priests and after meditating for an extended time in the room where Ramakrishna Paramahansa lived, now a shrine, we were gifted with prasad (blessed food) and flowers from his bed by the attending priest who was a direct descendant of Ramakrishna's brother.
